Short answer: America has a large Spanish-speaking immigrant population.
Because the US borders Mexico (a Spanish-speaking country with a generally lower quality of life), many people have immigrated from Mexico to the United States. In certain parts of the US, this is more pronounced, such as the cities (in general), and in specific states like California, Texas, and Florida, which border Mexico or harbor large immigrant populations.
Of course, aside from Mexico, immigrant populations have come from other parts of 'Central' and South America, where most countries speak Spanish.
