Could you tell me why personification is used in this sentence?
Translations of Greek and Roman classics were poured onto the printed page,

I don't think this is an example of personification. Personification gives "human" characteristics to things, and "pouring" is not a human characteristic. I believe that using the verb "pour" (usually used to describe the action of a liquid) is a "figurative" term, which means it is painting a picture in the reader's mind. But, I'm not an English major, so hopefully, someone else will have a better answer for you.
