go to kindergarten or go to the kindergarten? Do we need a definite article before kindergarten? Thanks in advance.

No definite article. Children go to kindergarten. If you said, "He went to the kindergarten to pick up some books," you would be talking about one specific location, not about the ongoing process of going to school.
