How long did it take you to learn Korean?
I've been studying everyday for a couple of months now... About 2-3 hours daily. This question if directed to everyone who has learned Korean... Im trying to get some sort of estimate on how long it will take me to learn it. I KNOW this varies from person to person.. But if you all could just tell me how long it took you and what you did to learn Korean, then I'd appreciate it. :)

I lived in Korea for a long time. I think the best way to learn is to surround yourself with many Korean things such as tv shows, music, etc. I never really studied it much but by living in Korea, I had to use it on a daily basis. I think I learned the most Korean from people who didn't speak any English since I was forced to use it in those situations. Taxi drivers were my biggest source of practice for me since many like to talk to their customers. I suggest you also study a course like the others have said. I think my korean grammar could be a lot better if I had did that previously.

I've been learning Korean for about 2 year. The first year,I studied in a Korean institute on every weekend(4 hours a week). The teachers are all Korean. And I made a lot of Korean friends in that period. Then I graduated from the college. My busy job gradually makes me away from the 아름다운 language.Recently,I feel so regretful to have given it up.So I began to learn it again with my teacher who taught me beforetime on every Sunday.
The point is you should find more chance to practice with a native speaker and enjoy this language as YONG said^^.
Once you get started, don't give up.

I absolutely agree with Mr. Barry's answer.
More often and intensively expose to korean-language enviroment, for example, intensive Korean course in Korea, more fastly and fluently master Korean...
즐공 한국어! Aroob

Well I have been living here in Korea for 4 years now. However, I was so busy with work that I didn't get much of a chance to study Korean. These days though I am focusing more and more on learning Korean. I hope to join a university class, such as at Yonsei or Sogang, so that I can improve my Korean. My reading and writing is better than my speaking skill - as Korean isn't exactly a global language so you need to have a native or close to native level of pronunciation and intonation. Over the course of a month I studied a lot and (luckily) got to practice it with my Korean firends here. If you get a chance I would recommend trying to join an intensive Korean course here. There are a few seasonal intensive sessions that you can join.
