(This part got left off. It goes after the second section above.) You can avoid taking responsibility for your actions by using the passive form of a sentence, because you do not always have to include the original subject if you don't want to. The PASSIVE form of the sentence "I made mistakes." would be "Mistakes were made BY ME." But, he left off the words ""BY ME." You do not always have to include them. The president just said "Mistakes were made." Hmmm, and WHO made those mistakes? :)

So, with the verb "to enclose," we have these forms: I enclose the price list in the envelope today. Yesterday I enclosed the price list in the envelope. I have enclosed the price list in the envelope. (present perfect tense) The price list is enclosed in the envelope today (by me.) (This is the past participle used in a passive sentence.) Our price list is enclosed. (This is using the past participle like an adjective.) ("Our price list is enclosed." is exactly the same meaning as "Enclosed is our price list." The word order is just different.) With some verbs, the past tense form is different from the past participle form. For example: I break the cookie. Yesterday I broke the cookie. I HAVE BROKEN a lot of cookies today. (Past perfect tense) The cookie is broken by me. (present passive) I do not want that cookie. It is broken. (Past participle used like an adjective.) So, the answer to your original question is that the word "enclosed" is the past participle form of the verb, and it is being used like an adjective. And no, the is nothing wrong with the sentence, although you could also say "Our price list is enclosed." I think I've told you more than you wanted to know. :)

You also use the same past participle form to make a PASSIVE sentence. Look at these examples: An active sentence (the subject of the sentence "does" the verb..) Bees make honey. A passive sentence: Honey IS MADE by bees. If you know the names for certain grammatical terms in English, the DIRECT OBJECT of the verb (HONEY) goes to the subject place, you put a form of the "to be" next, and that verb is in THE SAME TENSE as the original active sentence, and then you put the PAST PARTICIPLE form of the verb next. Finally, what was originally the subject of the sentence (Bees) goes to the end of the sentence with the word "by" in front of it. One of our presidents used the passive form of a sentence to his advantage. If he had said the active form of the sentence, he would have said, "I made mistakes." You can avoid taking responsibility for your actions by using the passive form of a sentence, because you do not always have to include the original subject if you don't want to. The PASSIVE form of the sentence "I made mistakes." would be "Mistakes were made BY ME."

Hi. The sentence is fine. "To enclose" means different things. Here it means to put something in the same envelope as the main letter. "Enclosed" in the sentence above is the past participle form of the verb "to enclose." It is used like an adjective. It tells you something about the price list. (The price list is WHAT? It is enclosed.) Let me show you how the participle works with a different verb: to mkake Present tense - Today I MAKE cookies. Past tense- Yesterday I MADE cookies. Present Perfect tense- I HAVE MADE cookies today. The word "MADE" used in this sentence is called the "past participle" in English.. You can use the past participle like an adjective, or you can use the past participle to form a passive sentence. For example, My toy has "Made in Japan" written on it. (This is using the participle form like an adjective. The word "made" goes with the word "toy." It is modifying the word "toy," which means it is telling you something about the word "toy." What is it telling you? That the toy is "made" (in Japan).
