About two sentences What's the difference between using "What does that mean?" and "What's that supposed to mean".

"What does that mean?" - this is a simple question, which is likely to have only one answer. "What's that supposed to mean?" - this is likely to be a more subtle question; for example; a person may have been asked a question and they have responded by making a silly face or giving a sarcastic answer. Therefore, if more information is needed (for whatever reason) one may use the second sentence to attempt to get a truer answer.
