I have a question about this sentence Inspired by a revolt dating back to the 12th century, against a ruthless count that used to drag young girls, about to be married to his chambers, the festival celebrates the people's victory and their freedom. My question is what is omitted in front of "inspired by" Is that As the festival is inspired by? I really appreciate your advice

The festival is "inspired by." The sentence be rewritten in the following way: "The festival, which celebrates the people's victory and their freedom, was inspired by a revolt against .....................chambers."

You're correct, Jenny! There is a lot of background information in the clause which begins with "inspired by", but yes, the festival was inspired by the original revolt.
