The essentials of the articulation of 'j', (('q')), 'x' in Mandarin are 3 points: which parts of the tongue and the palate that touch or get close to each other; Consequently how the airblow is checked and released; whether there is strong airblow going through the contact/close spots(aspirated or not).
///////////////// So we can pronouce by imitation of and comparison with the standard sounds of the target language (Mandarin). And there is another important comparison: with the similar sounds in your native language(s) or other foreign languages that we know. They are where we begin to articulate.
///////////////// As for 'j', (('q')), 'x' in Mandarin, we can compare like this: x(Madarin)-----s, or sh(English); j-----ch. Each of the latter sounds can work as the beginning of our articulation. Try and Error. Just keep adjusting the 3 points of articulation as you are trying and keep comparing the sounds that you made with the standard ones, untill we get the satisfatory results.
