An everyday conversation might go like this:
A: Do you have any brothers or sisters?
B: Yes, there are six of us.
A: So, where do you come in the family?
A: I'm the fourth. I have three older sisters and two younger brothers.
The word 'siblings' is a bit too official or academic-sounding for everyday conversation. We tend to just say 'brothers and/or sisters'.

I use 'siblings' in every day English whereas I don't tend to say 'brothers and sisters'.
And the conversation might go:
A: "Do you have siblings?"
B: "Yes, I have two."
A: "Where do you come in the family?"
B: "I'm the middle child. I have one elder sister and one younger sister."

I'm glad you're still fighting the cause, Peachey. Personally, I'm still licking my wounds after a comment that my views on wanna and suchlike were 'ridiculous' gleaned a whole host of appreciative 'likes'.
