What is the most formal way to say "to get a job"? I wonder how to say it, so that it sounds the most formally. Can I just say "I got a job" or "I landed a job" ?

A more formal term is to 'gain employment'.

"I got a job." is so informal even in American English. :) I think Su.ki's answer sounds very formal. I think "I have been hired by IBM." doesn't sound as informal as "got a job" and not as formal as Su.ki's answer so that is a phrase somewhere in the middle, I think.
