Clear CAN mean the same as straightforward. When the meaning is "simple" or "easy to follow" (when referring to some instructions).

Clear has lots of other meanings that are NOT synonymous with straightforward, however.

Neither of these uses could be replaced by straightforward:

The road is clear [there's no traffic on the road]
Clear my diary [cancel any upcoming appointments in my diary]
