' CLASSIC ' ... meaning ?
I watched the movie 'notting hill' yesterday and the word 'classic' was used in many times but I didn't understand the correct meaning of 'classic' in situations of the movie .
Of course , I know what it means generally but I felt the word was used in a little differnt meaning or nuance .
So , I wonder if there is some specific situation to use the word in a little different meaning , not as general .

In the film. 'classic' is used as a slightly anachronistic, upper-class slang word meaning outstanding or marvellous. This can be used in two different ways: in a straightfoward way, meaning outstandingly good, or in an ironic way, meaning that something is completely ridiculous.
