What is the difference between "package" and "packaging"?
should I say "package of food" or "packaging of food"?
Is there any rule to distinguish them?

The package of food is the entire thing - in a loaf of bread, the package is the bread, and the container for holding the bread.
The packaging of food is just the stuff it came in - for a loaf of bread, the packaging is the plastic or paper that the bread came in, not including the bread.
