Who are the traditional people? In Chinese textbooks there are some people who are described as being 'traditional', and I have noted that also on web forums when some Chinese people introduce themselves they at times call themselves 'traditional'. I have never understood what it means exactly. People who are described as 'traditional' usually use simplified characters, use mobile phones and watch American films just like people who are not described as being 'traditional'. But all those things would be examples of what I would never describe with the word 'traditional'. If you please could give me a full and clear explanation what does this word exactly describes when talking about people, I would appreciate it. Thank you!

если так говорит девушка своему парню это значит "сначала дом и деньги родителям, а потом жить вместе"... если на форумах, то это "я -- Д'артаньян, моейстранепятьтысячлет"

Well from what I have been studying, traditional people are more closed to the "outside" people. They might watch certain films and so on but regarding to environment and friends they are a lot more closed to "strangers". Also those are people that most likely participate in the more traditional customs of the country and stay away from "Western influence". And the most important, they rarely if ever have mixed race marriages. I'd compare it a bit to the Amish people only.. of course they do use the internet and so on. But like.. more of a closed community. I'd like to mark again that I've studied that in the university and it's not something I claim is 100% true.

我觉得就是指那种性格比较含蓄,内向的人。而这在中国就是一种比较典型的性格。大部分中国人相对国外一些国家都显得比较内向。所以traditional 在这里也许是暗示自己是一个比较内向的人。

they might mean they believe in Confucianism, have traditional Confucian values, such as propriety, righteousness, and loyalty.

It could have been translated more precisely as "conventional" in English. Conventional people, so to speak. Now Bob's your uncle, hopefully :)
