الفانوس في الاردن والمسحراتي في لبنان وسوريا Hello all! Can any one from these countries tell me more about these traditions and what they do normally in these celebrations. And it is only for Ramadan? Thanks!

As ياسمين answered you; المسحراتي is the man who walks in the streets playing on his drums 2 hours before dawn, so he'll wake people up to eat before they start their fasting in every day of the holy month of Ramadan. الفانوس or الفوانيس on the other hand are the lanterns used along with other decorations in Ramadan :)

Yes, this is only in Ramadan. He wakes up people for Sohour (pre-dawn meal), because they fast all the morning long, so they have to eat something before the dawn comes. Then they break their fast when the sun is rised. This man is also in Egypt called مسحراتي. * Sorry for any mistakes! Please correct for me. Thanks!)
