How to Understand "State-of-the-art"?
This expression, "State-of-the-art", means very advanced or highly developed, but how to understand it. I think it will be helpful for me to memorize it if I know the derivation.
Thank you.

A 'state' of something means the level or condition of that thing. 'Art' in this sense means a field of work or study. So "state -of-the-art" means the highest level in that field of work or study.
