'look for sth' - neutral, most general 'search for sth' - look for sth specific carefully in a specific place. E.g. The police are searching for the suspect. 'seek sth' (no preposition) - usually look for sth personally important/necessary (often not material). E.g. Seek the truth, seek fame, seek an ideal partner, seek advice.
