Meaning of " disconnected " I called one of my friends but the voice says this number is disconnected. Does it mean the phone number doesn't exist anymore? Thanks for your help in advance.

"Disconnected" means that the connection to the telecommunications server has been severed. A disconnection may be temporary, and this happens when your friend is late with payment of the fees. When he settles the account, the telephone will be reconnected. A disconnection may be permanent, if your friend has cancelled the account, or if the late payment has been outstanding for too long.
