"Perspective" in art is the technique of painting the same object in a smaller size if it is distant, and larger if it is close. If a painting is "out of perspective" things look too large or too small. Figuratively, it means not letting unimportant things seem more important than they are. "I can't let my manager get away with that. I'm going to his office right now and quitting." "Wait, take it easy, I think you've lost your perspective on this. I know what he can be like, but remember that overall you've always said you liked this job. Are you sure it's really all that important? Why don't you sleep on it? Tomorrow morning you may be able to regain your sense of proportion."
