What does "to round up the fare" mean?
I don't understand "to round up the fare" in this situation "The white light on the roof indicates the taxi is free. You don't have to tip taxi drivers but they appreciate it if you round up the fare." Can you help me, please? Thanks everyone.

To round up means to increase an amount to nearest whole number.
If the price of your taxi ride (fare) is $15.50, you would give the driver $16.00.
The driver appreciates this because he does not have to carry coins.

haha - I misread that at first, and thought that 'free' was referring to cost-free, rather than available... Maybe I should go to bed!
