What does "insofar as" mean?
I saw this phrase in this sentence: "Some scientists go so far as to assert that from now on, the world no longer be called 'natural', INSOFAR AS future processes of weather, climate and all the interactions of plant and animal life will no longer carry on in their time-honoured way, unaffected by humans.".
I look up in the dictionary but still don't get it.
Could anyone please help me to explain that phrase as well as the sentence?
Thank you very much.

The phrase means "to the extent that..." So, there's a limit to the meaning of the phrase.
