What is the difference between frightening and frightful
I have been using dictionary and looking for some clear explanation but I can't figure it out totally.
It will be better if I say "frightening experience". Sometimes I can differentiate them but I need to know exactly. Could anyone here help me?
Thanks,

The 'normal' word to use is 'frightening', if your meaning is 'scary'.
These days, 'frightful' is usually used in the sense of 'a mess' - 'Comb your hair! You look frightful'.
Although - I guess that some people could be so frightful that they are frightening, especially in the morning!
