Can anyone confirm the usages:ciao, buongiorno and buona sera Is it correct that:"ciao" (for hello, less formal), buongiorno (good day, to be used during the morning, afternoon. formal greeting to elders), buona sera (good evening, formal greeting to elders)

You could say "salve" too, it's kind of "ciao" but more formal!

For the afternoon, we have: buon pomeriggio. Buongiorno works until 2 p.m. I'd say.
