Can someone help me a translation of the Arabic phrase, "Baad ma shaab waddoo lil kutab" ? Secondly, is this a good transliteration in English? Finally, how do you spell this in Arabic (with script)? I can read Arabic, but my level isn't very good. I got this phrase from a recording, which is why I can't spell it. It's from a project with elderly migrants. Thank you for your help!

بعد ما شاب ودُّوه الكُتَّاب. After his hair went white, he went to school. it gives the same meaning of (You can't teach an old dog new tricks ) . Used to criticize someone old trying to do things more suited to young people.

It's old proverb "بعدْ ما شَابْ وَدوه لِلكُتاب" it means that after he became old man, they brought him to (al kuttab) school.
