What is the difference between the adjectives "far" and "faraway"?
I don't quite understand the difference between them. They both mean "a long distance away".
We can say both "a far country" and "a faraway country", but we can't say "a far star".
I can only guess that it's because stars are very far away from us.

the easiest way to explain your answer is by saying, far is a far broader adjective, and faraway is much more specific. for example a native speaker may say "my goal is still very faraway" because faraway is more descriptive than far.

There's probably a better, technical answer, but "faraway" feels more literary, more poetic. Not uncommon, it paints more of a picture than "far".
