Is "as opposed to" always unsimilar? Unsimilar to microcephaly in which the cranial capacity is extremely small, macrocephaly indicates a condition in which the head is abnormally large. Is "as opposed to" always unsimilar, this sentence above should be correct, shouldn't it?

I am not sure 'unsimilar' is a word - I would say 'dissimilar' . No, unsimilar/dissimilar and 'as opposed to' are not the same. The former just means that they aren't the same, but says nothing about the degree of difference. The latter implies that they are opposite - as different as it is possible to be from each other.
