帰ります(帰る) is mainly used for "go back home / to hometown / city / country, etc, where you usually live. もどります(もどる) is used for "to return to the place where you are now or you were a while ago. Ex.) 仕事がおわったので、いえに帰ります。(Como he terminado el trabajo, volveré/regresaré a mi casa.) 戻ります。 I will be back. Like when you go out for meeting with a client, you can say 後で戻ります if your boss ask you what are you gonna do after meeting? 帰ります sounds more like I will go back home.
