”亲妹妹“ 的意思是。。? I briefly came across a trailer on youtube. There was a couple about to get married and in typical drama fashion, a woman said the bride and groom could not get married because of "亲妹妹". I used pinyin to type out these chinese characters so I could be wrong.. What is the difference between 亲妹妹 and a regular 妹妹?

亲妹妹 is refer to blood related sister. They're related by birth, so they can't get married. Both of them have the same biological parents. 妹妹 is younger sister. I hope this will help you.

妹妹 refers to your sisters, younger female cousin or other girls that are close to you and younger than you. but when we use the word "亲妹妹“, we aim to emphasize our blood kinship that we are born of the same parents. Generally, use "妹妹“ is enough to show we share the same father and mother.

Take example: 1. A & B gave birth to C, Then D. Thus, D是C的妹妹,也是亲妹妹。 2. A & B gave birth to C, Then adopted E. Thus, E是C的妹妹,但不是亲妹妹 3. A & B gave birth to C and F is uncle’s(or auntie’s)daughter. Thus, F是C的妹妹,但不是亲妹妹。
