the meaning "relish the plunge"
I have a statement from the book :
"I did not altogether like to give in, though I did not relish the plunge".
What is the meaning of "don't relish the plunge"?

To relish is to enjoy, or to look forward to something. A plunge is a jump down into something. It can be literal, such as diving into water, or it can be figurative, such as leaping into another phase of your life.
So - the writer does not want to take a jump. A real jump, or a big change.

That's a strange sentence, but often writers take such liberties.
