Why use " l’ " in this sentence? "Je ne sais pas qui a pendu ta langue, mais pour être bien pendue elle l’est." What does " l’ " correspond to? why not just say "bien pendue elle est"? Thank you.

"l'" refers to "ta langue". The idiom is "avoir la langue bien pendue". Here, "elle l'est" = "ta langue est bien pendue"
