Checking I understand a textbook sentence.
My textbook contains the following sentence:
オリンピックの開会にあたり、一言の述べさせていただきます。
I understand the first part, but I want to be 100% sure I understand the second part, 一言の述べさせていただきます
I'm assuming this can be translated naturally Into English as "I would like to say something", and that more literally it breaks down as " you are letting me say something" (述べさせていただきます).
Is this correct?
