What the meaning of the word "главное"?
My native language is Portuguese and I am learning Russian in English. Sometimes when I try translate I don't get the correct meaning.
In my book it is written:
" - Ты всё понимаешь?
- Нет, но я понимаю главное."

Главное = the most important thing, the main thing, the bottom line, the most important fact
Ты всё понимаешь? Do you understand all?
Нет, но я понимаю главное. No, but I understand the bottom line.
