Salam Yasmin, You mean the word المروءة. Answering your question, Yes! Definitely yes. We still mention those characters about someone, a man or a woman, to describe their good morals. Before Islam, this trait/ character wasn't only used to describe the bedouins. This trait was given to any man/ woman, from a city, town or a bedouin living in the desert. It means this person is brave, generous, has magnanimity and a sense of honor.
