A "stumble" is a mis-step when you're walking that usually doesn't cause you to fall over. If a fall *is* the result, then it's common to say "stumble and fall". A "tumble" is a dramatic fall where you roll head-over-heels. A tumble-dryer is one that tumbles the clothes around and around.
