Horticulture VS Agriculture
When I read Sociology by Anthony Giddens, I found these two words. I've looked up in the dictionary, but I still wonder what's exactly the difference between them. Thank you all.

I would say that horticulture is for growing plants and flowers whereas agriculture is for growing food.

"Horticulture" is a fancy word for "gardening" and "agriculture" is a fancy word for "farming." Of course definitions are never precise, but I think that captures the idea. For example, someone cultivating 640 acres of wheat, or sorghum, or corn is definitely engaging in agriculture, not horticulture.
