Much like what was stated before, the second sentence expresses the idea of "irrepressible desire", something you cannot physically wait to do and therefore conveys more enthusiasm. The first is more formal and implies a lighter desire.

In general? None. The meaning is the same.
The first expression is a bit more formal. The second arguably conveys more excitement.
