It is grammatically correct, but somewhat unclear. It would be better to say, "Useful data sets have been obtained to date and are still collecting information." The second half of the predicate, "and are still counting," can rewritten for more clarity.

i think you are trying to say: "Useful data-sets have been obtained and are up-to-date. Additionally, they are *constantly updating*."

I agree with Asif. The beginning looks fine, "Useful data-sets have been obtained..." but the "and are still counting" is confusing. What are you trying to say there? Also you could say "Useful and up-to-date data sets have been obtained..." You don't need a hyphen in data-sets.
