I promise, ... Hello everyone! Is it correct that we can use the verb "promise" in any tense (not only in future tense, but also in past and present tenses)? For example: I promise I didn't do it. (=I'm telling the truth, I didn't) I promise I'm not joking. (=I'm telling the truth; I'm not) I promise I won't tell anyone. (=I'm honestly not going to tell anyone) Do these sentences sound fine?

Garcia, thank you! Muhammed, yes, I know that's what's written in some dictionaries and it's exactly how we use an analogous word in my native language - that's why I asked this question. But I think we can trust native speakers on this.. Are you absolutely sure about your answer?

Only the last sentence is correct as I have not seen the other two uses in my whole life. In the dictionary it is categorically mentioned that it could be used only where something to be promised in the future.
