Meaning of "overhype"
Hi there!
I saw the phrases below on YouTube, but I'm not sure if I understand the meaning of "overhyped" and "it lived up to the hype" in this. Could anybody rephrase it, or can we have another way of saying for them?
" I thought that movie was gonna be overhyped because everyone is saying that it was a really good movie but I actually thought it lived up to the hype."
Thank you!

Hey Hey Tae,
In this sentence "overhyped" means that people think and say the movie it`s much better than it actually is.And "it lived up to the hype" means that after seeing it, that person who believed it was "overhyped" and it will not be so good now believes it`s a very good movie too.:)
I hope that helped!

The speaker is saying that he/she in their opinion thought that the movie was really as good as people were saying it was.
Hype is the excitement or "fuss" that is created around something or someone to get people interested.
Overhyped would then be an excess of hype. (or more hype than what is usually created)
I hope this explains it a little better for you.
