The difference is a bit more nuanced. You can say an exam was hard or difficult. True, or that times were difficult or hard. But, sometimes hard refers to a surface, meaning not soft. Difficult always refers to something that requires a great deal of effort or presents obstacles. So, I would differentiate between the two depending on how you are using them.

Hello, there isn't a big difference between Hard and Difficult in the context of something being complicated to do, requiring much labor, skills and/or planning. They are synonyms and their meanings overlap.
One difference we could note is that Difficult Is a little bit more formal than Hard, but you could interchange them without problem.
