'carry up' means literally to carry upwards:But the object in that case is likely to come between: Please carry this food up the hill. There is also 'carry over' Projects not finished this year will carry over to next year.

well I'm not sure you're saying "carry up" right, but when some one is slower than you say "catch up" meaning to hurry up and get next to me. your calling them slow but not in a rude way. maybe you mean hurry up and not carry up. which just means to go faster. catch up is kind of like telling some one "Andelé! Ariba!"
