Could anyone tell me the difference between 태어나다, 낳다, 출산하다, 출생하다 and 탄생하다? the appropriate subject for 출산(出産)하다, 낳다 is mother. 낳다 is usually used in more wide situation other than childbirth(they're frequently used as the meaning of 'result in' ). On the other hand, 출산하다 is used more narrowly in terms of childbirth and gives the feeling of literary style. This is may be due to it's Kanji term. ex) 엄마가 아기를 출산하다/낳다. 그 정책은 사회의 각종 폐해를 낳았다. In contrast, the appropriate subject for 태어나다, 출생(出生)하다, 탄생하다 is baby. In those 3, 태어나다 is frequently used in childbirth situation. I think most of Koreans use this term. '출생하다' has same meaning with 태어나다, but it sounds like too formal and it's usually used to notify where and when somebody was born. In this case, it can be replaced by 태어나다 The term '탄생하다' is used in more widely(not only in childbirth) and involves kinda feeling of emphasis. ex) 아기가 태어나다 그는 1996년, 서울에서 출생했다/태어났다. 새로운 왕이 탄생했다.

出生 means 출생

From baby's perspective we use 태어나다 출생하다 탄생하다 like 나는 서울에서 태어났다. 태어나다 is more informal way to say and often used. From mother's perspective we use 낳다 출산하다 like 우리 엄마는 병원에서 나를 낳았다.
