Cantones speaker also know how to use Mandarin writing system.But Mandarin speaker dont know Cantones speaker writing system. But our speaking are totally different. EG.Do you eat dinner today? Cantones speaker will say : 你今晚食左飯味呀? But their teacher request they write this in exam:你吃過晚飯了嗎? And this writing system is same as Mandarin speaker. We call it 書面語, more formal in writing.
