Are both sentences OK? I need my hair done. or I need to get my hair done.

Both sentences are grammatically correct, but they have a slight difference in meaning. The former could mean that either you or another person will fix your hair, while the latter denotes that your hair will be done (only) by someone else, thus the passive voice. The pattern "get/have something + past participle" means you didn't do something by yourself. :)
