Which sentence is correct?
1. This man works hardest.
2. This man works the hardest.
If both are correct, what difference does 'the' make here? Thanks.

Hey Sergey, the only correct answer is number 2. This is because superlatives almost always need the definite article. Example:
He is the fastest runner.
That is the most difficult problem.
It's the biggest building in the city.
