What does ザル mean in「警備はザルじゃん！」? 日本語で：はじめまして！今は大学のためにデス・スターについてのテキストを訳します。でも、この文がわかりません：「警備はザルじゃん！」何という意味ですか？特に「ザル」は不明解です。。。 English: Hello! I am currently translating some texts for a university class and there is one about the Death Star from Star Wars (our lecturer loves movies). One of the sub headlines reads「警備はザルじゃん！」and I don't really know what to make of it. Can anyone explain to me what it means? Especially the ザル is confusing to me.

「ざる」は竹で編んだかごのことです。竹で編んでいるので、水がもれます。ここから「ざる」は、「かご」の他に、手落ちや抜け穴が多いことも意味します。だから、お問い合わせの「警備がザルじゃん！」は、警備があまい／手落ち／不十分となります。

はじめまして！スターウォーズのデス・スターですね。「警備はザルじゃん！」＝＞この警備はまるで「ざる（BOILING BASKETやCOLANDERのような物）」みたいに、楽々と簡単に（かんたんに）すり抜けられる（slip through）じゃない！今、日本には、色々なタイプのザルがあります。もしよかったら、グーグル画像検索してみてくださいね。
