How to distinguish castigate v.s censure ?
As the title, what's the difference between ''castigate" and ''censure''?
For both words, is it nearly the same meaning which been used to criticize somebody or something?
Thank you very much.

As I see it, "castigate" is stronger emotionally and less formal. For example your friend or just some stranger castigated you for being racist. "Censure" is more formal and mainly used in formal, official situations, like your boss censored you for not meeting deadline.
I hope I made myself clearš
