How do I say that I'm still learning in Japanese?
I was once talking to my Japanese online friend who only spoke japanese. So he once sent me some kanji that I didn't read. and when I told him that I couldn't read it, he was confused as to how I understood some and not all. The point I'm trying to get across to him is that I'm still not fluent in Japanese and that I'm learning, hence why I can't understand a 100% of what he says. If any of that makes sense?

You can say まだ日本語を勉強しているところなので難しい言葉は分かりません
This means you're still learning Japanese so you don't understand difficult words.

If you say "日本語は勉強中だからまだ上手ではありません”, he understands why you can't read what he wrote in Japanese.
