Question regarding the genitive construction in Arabic

So the phrase in question is "das Buch des Lehrers" (the book of the teacher). In the sentence the book says that in its latin form the two words would be "kitabul mu'(ayn)alimi".

1. Is "kitabul" supposed to be "The book"? and "kitab" is "book"?
2. Why is there an "aleef" before the word "teacher"? Is it a connector of these two words which wouldn't be pronunced?
3. Why is "ba" isolated and not in its final form in the word book?

Kitab, is indefinite noun كتاب

The second one you’ve written ‘ kitabul’
It is written in Arabic as كتاب. With Dhama. “Sorry I don’t have Harakat in my board”.
The “ul” belong to the second word which is Mu’alimi and it stand for “The” that we use for definite nouns.
So, why it was written in the way you mentioned? Because you wrote it with English letters to state the pronunciation of the phrase as a whole but in Arabic we write in the same and state the difference by using Harakat.

Hallo Lars,
1- Das arabische Wort "Kitab" bedeutet "ein Buch" , also singular, maskulin, unbestimmt. Das "u" am Anschluss steht für Nominativ. كتابُ
Das "l" steht als bestimmter Artikel für "mu'(ayn)alim" 
"mu'(ayn)alim" = مُعَلَّم =  ein Lehrer   / "al-mu'(ayn)alim" = المُعَلِّم  = der Lehrer.
2- Das alif ist keine Konjunktion. Es grhört zum bestimmten Artikel "al".
3- Das "b/ب" steht separat am Ende des Wortes "kitab / كتاب " wegen des Alifs, das keine weitere Verbindung veranläßt.

"the book" is "al kitab"
the "ul" in "kitabul" belongs to the word " the teacher", it is actually "the".
in other words ,the sentence in Arabic is "book of the teacher" , no need to put "the" before "book".
the correct latin writing is "kitabu /a/lmuAlimi".
and the "u" in "kitabu" is for perfect in MSA, I mean if you want to speak the perfect MSA you need to end each word with Haraka, which is "a,u or i".
