pull up a stool
Hello,
Does the expression above mean that you just relax or literally pull up your stool for cleaning or some other purposes?
If you know what it would mean exactly or how it should be used appropriately, let me know.
Thank you.

"Pull up a stool" or "pull up a chair" is used to invite someone to join you at a bar, restaurant, party, or other gathering.

I think it's mainly used in the context of 'pull up a stool, sit down, and listen or watch or discuss something for a while'.
The implication is that something will be happening for a while, so you might as well be comfortable.
